Histology

Path Logic provides a full-service outsource alternative for hospitals that can save your institution up to 50% or more from your current histology costs while affording you the ease of having slides delivered to your lab each day that are on-time and of superior quality. Path Logic can also provide temporary services (such as for vacation coverage, sudden volume increases, equipment failure, unexpected absence of your tech, etc.).

We provide all histology services including the processing of tissue samples, embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining and special staining. Path Logic has an extensive library of the most requested special stains.

State-of-the-art automation, 24-hour laboratory operations, and specialized pathologists ensure consistent quality and fast turnaround. Rigorous quality controls are applied. Slides of exceptional quality mean faster, easier, and more accurate interpretations.

For hospitals within a 60-mile radius of a Path Logic facility, formalin-fixed tissues will be picked up by a Path Logic courier in the late afternoon. Slides will be delivered to your pathologists the following morning. Path Logic provides transport of materials free of charge.

Immunohistochemistry

When histopathology alone proves uncertain or requires additional support, immunohistochemistry (IHC) can help resolve and define the diagnosis. Since most antigens are not unconditionally tumor-specific, panels of antibodies are employed to more fully characterize tissues.

IHC prognostic studies in malignant neoplasms can augment tumor-grade and TMN staging to assess relative risk for disease progression or early relapse. IHC studies can be of value in clinical decision-making.

Path Logic offers the pathologist the option of technical-only immunohistochemistry staining, immunohistochemistry staining with scoring, or comprehensive consultation. We have compiled a comprehensive IHC library of over 160 antibodies. We are able to provide 24-hour TAT on all technical-only IHC stains and 48-72 hour turnaround time for comprehensive consultation reports.

Path Logic also provides image analysis for ER, PR, KI67, p53 and Her2Neu. You can choose to have your IHC slides delivered via digital imaging in addition to receiving the glass slide.

Path Logic offers a full-service cytopathology laboratory with fast, accurate, world-class gynecological and non-gynecological cytopathology services that include:

• Slides screened by experienced certified cytotechnologists
• All abnormal cases interpreted by board-certified cytopathologists
• Imaged thin-layer staining and interpretation including dual review of all slides
• Non-gynecological preparation and interpretation
• Cytological/surgical correlation
• Processing and staining only, if desired

Molecular Diagnostics

Path Logic provides a wide range of state-of-the-art molecular diagnostic testing from the ThinPrep vial, including HPV with genotyping, chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes simplex I & II, cystic fibrosis, and thrombophilia.

Dermatopathology Consultations

Our comprehensive dermatopathology services include routine stains, special histochemical stains, and a full panel of immunohistochemical (IHC) stains.  We also offer direct immunofluorescence (DIF) analysis with 24-hour reporting.  We operate under the guiding principle that quality, accuracy and speed are essential to the evaluation and treatment of your patients’ biopsies. New diagnoses of melanoma, lymphoproliferative malignancies, and unusual or complicated cases are reviewed by a second dermatopathologist and are immediately called to the referring clinicians.

Nephropathology Consultations

With a state-of-the-art full-service Electron Microscopy department and a depth of experienced pathologists, Path Logic is able to offer rapid results with an average turnaround of 24-48 hours from when the specimen is received. With three board-certified, fellowship-trained nephropathologists, Path Logic is able to offer routine intra-departmental consultations. The pathology report features digital images and salient pathologic findings. The comprehensive pathology report includes light microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and immunofluorescent microscopy examinations.

Gastroenterology Consultations

Path Logic offers a gastrointestinal team of pathologists who have focused training and expertise including GI fellowship training, more than 100 years combined experience, and a particular interest in liver pathology. With state-of-the-art laboratory technology including special stains, molecular diagnostics, and immunohistochemistry combined with rapid turnaround time, Path Logic is able to provide exceptional gastroenterology services. We also offer KRAS Mutation Analysis through a partnership with NeoGenomics Laboratories.

Surgical Pathology Consultations

Path Logic has a team of pathologists who are board-certified and fellowship-trained in most areas of pathology including hematopathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, nephropathology, GI and GU pathology, and molecular pathology. Path Logic provides surgical pathology consultation to hospital-based pathologists as well as other pathology groups. With two state-of-the-art pathology laboratories, Path Logic is able to provide over 160 immunohistochemistry antibodies as well as immunofluorescence studies and electron microscopy analysis.
