Medical Team
Dr. Stephen Bauer, Chief Financial Officer and Medical Director
Dr. Bauer received his BA and MD degrees from the University of California, San Francisco. He continued his postgraduate training at UCSF, where he was chief resident in pathology and served in a faculty position while completing residency. He is currently an associate clinical professor. In 1979, he entered private practice in Sacramento, becoming Director of the Laboratory at Sutter Memorial Hospital where he developed laboratories in Cytogenetics and Flow Cytometry. Since 1989, he has been Director of Laboratories at Mercy San Juan and Mercy Folsom Hospitals. The American Board of Pathology certifies Dr. Bauer in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) selected Dr. Bauer as Pathologist of the Year in 1999. He has been active in CAP for more than 20 years and has served (frequently in a leadership position) on a variety of key CAP committees during this time, including those involving practice management and economic affairs. Currently, Dr. Bauer is the President of CAP. He is a leading authority on laboratory billing (CPT and ICD-9 coding) and has been the CAP representative many times on the Medicare (CMS) committees that set CMS payment levels for new and existing lab procedures. He currently serves on the CAP Board of Governors and on the CAP Governors executive and compensation committees. Recently, the CAP established a new Council on Accreditation chaired by Dr. Bauer. This new Council will oversee all activities of the CAP Commission of Lab Accreditation which is responsible for accrediting the great majority of medical clinical laboratories (independent and hospital-based) in the United States.

Dr. Claude Burdick
Dr. Burdick joined Path Logic 2006 and is focused on the East Bay region. Dr. Burdick received his BS and MD from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his general internship and residency at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco. He has been Chief of Pathology at 406 Medical Laboratory in Tokyo, Chief of Anatomic Pathology at William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, and Chief of Hematology at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. He was the Director of Laboratories at ValleyCare Hospital for 25 years and was also Director of Spectra Laboratories. Dr. Burdick is board certified in anatomic, clinical, and skin pathology. He is a fellow of the American College of Pathology and is a member of AMA, CMA, ACCMA, ASCP, and AABB. Dr. Burdick’s areas of interest in pathology are GI pathology, GU pathology, cytopathology, and dermatopathology.

Dr. Andrew C. Burg
Dr. Burg joined Path Logic in 2007 and serves as the Medical Director of Path Logic’s Southern California laboratory. He completed his medical and pathology training at the University of California, Irvine where he was the Chief Resident in pathology. Dr. Burg also did a surgical pathology fellowship at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Following the fellowship, in 1991, he entered private practice at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California, where he has been the Director of Pathology since 1994. Dr. Burg is currently Chief of Staff at St. Mary Medical Center and serves on the Board of the Los Angeles Society of Pathologists. His primary interest is gynecological pathology, including cervical brush specimen interpretation, in which he is an authority in the field.

Dr. David Chun
Dr. Chun serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed his medical training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, and completed an internship, residency and surgical pathology fellowship at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. He served as Chief Resident in the Pathology Residency program at LAC-USC Medical Center. Dr. Chun is currently the Co-Medical Director at San Dimas Community Hospital and Glendale Memorial Hospital. He is also a staff pathologist at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital. He is currently a College of American Pathologists Team Leader Laboratory Inspector and a member of the College of American Pathologists.

Dr. Carl Critz
Dr. Critz serves as Path Logic’s Laboratory Medical Director located in San Ramon. Dr. Critz is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He is currently the Medical Director of Pathology at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Dr. Critz began his training at Brown University where he received his BS. He did his medical training at Hahnemann Medical College where he received his MD. His residency was at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Critz also practiced at Quincy Hospital, Quincy, Massachusetts, as the Chief of Staff. Dr. Critz is a fellow of CAP and a member of AACC.

Dr. Gary Ellinger
Dr. Ellinger received his MD from the University of Minnesota and completed his residency in pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Following residency, he returned to Minnesota, completing fellowships in surgical pathology and hematopathology at ___________. He entered private practice in 1983 and relocated to Sacramento in 1990, where he practices at Mercy San Juan Hospital. The American Board of Pathology certifies him in anatomic and clinical pathology. His primary interests are surgical pathology and Hematopathology.

Dr. Kenneth Frankel
Dr. Frankel serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as dermatopathology and cytopathology. He graduated cum laude from the Medical School at Ohio State University. He completed an internship and residency at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Frankel is a clinical professor of pathology at USC College of Medicine. Dr. Frankel is currently the Medical Director at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital and Glendale Memorial Hospital. He is also a staff pathologist at San Dimas Community Hospital.

Dr. Glenn Hausdorfer
Dr. Hausdorfer serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed his medical training at the University of Southern California, and completed an internship, residency and surgical pathology fellowship at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Hausdorfer is currently the Co-Medical Director at San Dimas Community Hospital. He is also a staff pathologist at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital and Glendale Memorial Hospital. He is a fellow with the College of American Pathologists.

Dr. Peter Kolbeck, Chief Executive Office and Medical Director
After receiving his MD from Emory University in 1982, Dr. Kolbeck began post-graduate education in anatomical pathology and immunopathology at Duke University Medical Center. Since this training he has been active in academic research, teaching and clinical service at three different major university medical centers – Duke, University of Nebraska, and UC Davis – and has authored or co-authored 35 research papers, written book chapters on nephropathology, and edited a book on transplant pathology. He has presented on various aspects of renal and transplant pathology at more than 20 national and international scientific venues. Dr. Kolbeck has directed an immunopathology research lab, three electron microscopy laboratories, and has provided expert renal biopsy interpretations to clinicians in several states for more than 20 years. In 1994, he entered private pathology practice in Sacramento and in 1997 was the president of one of the largest pathology groups in California. Dr. Kolbeck founded Path Logic in 1999. In addition to his management and professional activities with Path Logic, he currently also teaches at UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Kolbeck is Vice President for the California Society of Pathologists (CSP) and is the CSP legislative representative to the California Medical Association (CMA).

Dr. Henry (Kelly) McNeely
Dr. McNeely joined Path Logic in 2007. He completed his MD and internship at the University of California, Davis. He then completed his pathology residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital where he was the chief resident for two years. Following his residency, he entered into private practice at Woodland Clinic Medical Group from 1989 to 1992. In 1993, he joined Diagnostic Pathology Medical Group. As a member of Diagnostic Pathology Medical Group, Dr. McNeely served as the Laboratory Medical Director at Sutter Davis Hospital from 1993 to 2006. Dr. McNeely is a fellow at CAP, the California Society of American Pathologists, and the International Society of Dermatopathologists. Dr. McNeely has a special interest in dermatopathology and cytopathology .

Dr. Roy Moffatt
Dr. Moffatt serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed his medical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed an internship and residency at Bexar County Hospital and Audie Murphy V.A. Hospital, and completed residencies in anatomic and clinical pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Moffatt is currently the Medical Director at Glendale Memorial Hospital. He is also a staff pathologist at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital and San Dimas Community Hospital. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and Los Angeles Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Jonathan Musicant
Dr. Musicant received his MD from the University of Michigan and completed residency in pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. After residency, he spent a year on the faculty of UCSF in the division of cytopathology and completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at Stanford University. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and cytopathology. He entered private practice at Mercy San Juan Hospital in 1993, where his primary interests have been cytopathology, fine needle aspiration biopsy, and surgical pathology.

Dr. Hema Oswal
Dr. Oswal joined Path Logic in 2008. She received her MD from B.J. Medical College, University of Pune in India. She completed residency programs at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital and UC Davis Medical Center, and a surgical pathology fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center. She has held several academic appointments, including associate physician in surgical pathology at UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Oswal is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Robert Riechmann
Dr. Riechmann serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. He completed his medical training at University of California at Irvine. He completed an internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Riechmann is currently the Medical Director at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital. He is also a staff pathologist at San Dimas Community Hospital and Glendale Memorial Hospital. He is currently a fellow with the American Society of Clinical Pathology as well as a member of the College of American Pathologists, Los Angeles County Medical Association, California Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Rafael Rodriguez
Dr. Rodriguez joined Path Logic in August 2009 and specializes in gastrointestinal (GI) pathology. He received his medical degree from UC Davis School of Medicine. Prior to joining Path Logic, Dr. Rodriguez completed a GI pathology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. He completed a surgical pathology fellowship, anatomic and clinical pathology residency program, and obstetrics and gynecology residency program at UC Davis. He was honored as Clinical Fellow of the Year at UC Davis from 2007-2008 and was Chief Resident for the Department of Pathology from 2006-2007.

Dr. Shirley Shen
Dr. Shen joined Path Logic full-time in July 2006 and is based in Fairfield. She graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences in Guanzhou, P.R. China. She did her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of California Irvine (UCI). Dr. Shen is board-certified in anatomic, clinical, and cytopathology. During her training at UCI, she served as chief resident. Dr. Shen has completed a one-year fellowship training program in cytopathology at Los Angeles County–University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Medical Center.

Dr. Oliver Stanton, Secretary and Medical Director of Dermatopathology
Dr. Stanton is the Medical Director of dermatopathology at Path Logic. Dr. Stanton received his MD degree from the University of California Davis. He completed a rotating internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland. Dr. Stanton completed his residency in laboratory medicine and anatomic pathology at the University of California, San Francisco. He also completed fellowships in hematopathology at UC Davis and dermatopathology at UC San Francisco. Dr. Stanton is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology. Dr. Stanton also has subspecialty certification in hematopathology and dermatopathology. Dr. Stanton joined Path Logic in 2001 after eight years of practice with a large private pathology group in the Sacramento region, with a primary involvement in dermatopathology.

Dr. Meena Tandon
Dr. Tandon serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in San Ramon. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. Dr. Tandon is currently a pathologist at San Ramon Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Tandon was born in India and did her medical schooling at King Georges' Medical College in Lucknow, India. Her residency training was at the University of California, Davis and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, which is affiliated with Stanford University. She started her pathology practice in the San Francisco Bay area in 1991.

Dr. Katherine Unger
Dr. Unger joined Path Logic’s neuropathology service in July, 2002. After receiving her MD from Wake Forest University in 1995, she received anatomic and clinical pathology training at the University of California, Davis. She also completed a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of California, Davis. She is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and holds subspecialty certification in hematopathology. Her focus at Path Logic is on nephropathology and hematopathology.

Dr. Kumari Wickramasinghe
Dr. Wickramasinghe serves as a pathologist for Path Logic in Southern California. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, completing her medical training at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. She completed an internship and residency training in Sri Lanka, as well as residency programs at the University of Illinois and Loma Linda University Medical Center. She completed fellowships in surgical pathology and gastrointestinal pathology at the University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Wickramasinghe is currently the Chairman of Pathology at Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Hospital. She is also a staff pathologist at San Dimas Community Hospital and Glendale Memorial Hospital. She is a member of the International Academy of Pathology and the Los Angeles Society of Pathology. Dr. Wickramasinghe is currently a College of American Pathologists Laboratory Inspector.

Jeff Glenn, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Glenn is a senior laboratory executive with over 22 years of broad industry experience in the clinical (CP) and anatomic pathology (AP) sectors, and brings to Path Logic an established track record of dynamic leadership resulting in operational excellence and strategic growth. Prior to joining Path Logic as Chief Executive Officer in June, 2010, he enjoyed a 20 year career with Laboratory Corporation of America and its’ predecessor company National Health Laboratory, advancing from an operations role in NHL’s Dallas facility to the position of Senior Vice President in the Northeast and West Divisions from 2006 to 2008. Counted amongst his most fulfilling achievements is the ability to attract the industry’s best talent and build and direct successful management teams.
Most recently he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Diamond Reference Laboratory in the Greater Los Angeles area, and was instrumental in positioning the company for its’ successful sale to Laboratory Corporation of America in 2010.
Mr. Glenn expects to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Penn State University in 2010, and will be entering the Smeal School of Business at Penn State to work towards a Masters degree in Supply Chain Management in January 2011.

Sandra Orzel, Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Orzel joined the Path Logic management team in September, 2006 with an extensive background in laboratory design, integration, administration, and management. Previously, Ms. Orzel worked for AD PathLabs, Inc. as Vice President of Operations and Development from March 2000 through March 2006. Ms. Orzel was an integral part of the creation of AD PathLabs, designing AD PathLabs’ laboratory in Los Angeles as well as hiring all personnel, purchasing all equipment, and licensing the laboratory. AD PathLabs was accredited by CAP as well as CLIA and DHS. Ms Orzel was the Director of Operations for US Labs, based in Irvine, for two years prior to joining AD PathLabs. During her tenure at US Labs, she was instrumental in the integration and growth of the Irvine laboratory and the design and build out of US Labs’ Los Angeles facility.
Prior to joining US Labs, Ms. Orzel spent the first 11 years of her laboratory career as the Laboratory Manager and Administrator for Pacific Medical Laboratory in San Diego. In 1996, Pacific Medical Laboratory was acquired by American Pathology Resources (APR). Ms Orzel joined APR as Histology Administrator/Quality Assurance Manager. She was promoted to Acting Director of Operations for APR, San Diego in January, 1997. In July, 1997, Ms. Orzel was promoted to Director of Operations of APR’s largest laboratory in St. Louis, Missouri (in May, 1998, APR was acquired by Pathology Consultants of America).
Ms. Orzel has a B.A. in psychology from Michigan State University. She has extensive knowledge of laboratory design and integration, quality management, compliance, safety and regulatory licensing, and team building. Ms. Orzel is a member of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association.

Michelle Moore, Vice President of Business Development
Michelle Moore joined Path Logic in August 2010, and becomes the newest member of our executive management team. Ms. Moore offers to the organization almost 20 years of laboratory industry expertise in the vital areas of business development and strategic execution, and most importantly, brings a unique inspirational style of motivational leadership.
Prior to joining Path Logic, Michelle enjoyed an impressive 17 year track record of expanding roles at Laboratory Corporation of America, starting as a sales executive in Atlanta, GA, and completing her career as Vice President of their Western Regional Sales and Operations. As Vice President of Business Development for LabCorp, she played an instrumental role in the company’s double-digit growth in the strategic markets of CA, AZ, and Nevada, solidifying their competitive position in these critical growth areas.
Ms. Moore’s expertise extends beyond the clinical laboratory sector, as she excelled in creating a successful business model for expanding the Dianon Systems brand to the West Coast for Laboratory Corporation of America in 2005.
The core of her success is based upon relationship building, enhanced by very specific skills in development of strategic partnerships, institutional contract negotiation, and mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Moore completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Portland State University, she holds degrees in both Business and Health Sciences respectively.

Ryan Palmer, Director of Information Technology
Mr. Palmer joined Path Logic as the Director of Information Technology in July 2010, having previously served in expanding roles for Laboratory Corporation of America's Western and Rocky Mountain Regions from 1999 to 2010. During his career with LabCorp, he was responsible for the design, construction and support of numerous satellite laboratory facilities across the Western U.S., as well as their 120,000 sq foot regional flagship laboratory in San Diego, California. Mr Palmer's considerable experience includes the successful evaluation and consolidation of over 20 laboratories acquired by Laboratory Corporation of America, and was responsible for all aspects of the information technology integration process.
During his tenure at LabCorp, Mr. Palmer was instrumental in standardizing the I.T. support structure. His accomplishments included implentation of a regional I.T. helpdesk, electronic ticketing, web based applications running on SQL servers; web based remote support for clients and end users, and migration of missio critical applications from a Windows environment to a clustered virtual Linux environment.
Mr. Palmer has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Redlands, and has obtained I.T. technical certificates in telecom engineering, and network administration CNA. Mr. Palmer is a master motivator and expert team builder.

James Hargrove, HTL (ASCP), Director of Laboratory Operations, Southern California
Mr. Hargrove joined Path Logic in October, 2007 as the Director of Laboratory Operations for Southern California. Prior to joining Path Logic, Mr. Hargrove worked for Clarient Medical Systems as a Lead Immunohistochemistry Technologist. Mr. Hargrove was the Immunohistochemistry and Histology Manager for AD PathLabs where he was instrumental in the development of the department. Mr. Hargrove has also held supervisory, management, and technical positions at Pathology, Inc., Pacific Coast Reference Laboratory, City of Hope Medical Center, ChromaVision, Specialty Laboratories, and Impath.
Mr. Hargrove received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. Mr. Hargrove has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the laboratory including safetey, productivity, and Quality Management.
